J.E.L. Agency, LLC

There are many different aspects in hauling over dimensional freight. One common mistake
made by customers is they assume that all over size freight is the same. They assume the
trucking company hauling the oversize freight knows what they are doing. This is not the case.
As every industry has its specialists, so does the heavy haul industry. Doctors and lawyers have
specialists in their fields. Even carpenters who work with wood are not cabinet makers. As with
the oversize freight industry, trucking companies who haul construction equipment are most
likely not set up to haul fiberglass or light weight metal like aluminum. Even the equipment is
not the same. Where heavy items need chains and binders, light weight materials require straps.
Large diameter tanks require long 40-60 foot straps to go around the tank rather than chains
attached to chain down points on the side of the item. Trailers that haul heavy duty items are
more ridged. Heavy duty trailers have higher loaded deck heights around 24 inches. These tall
trailers, which work well for construction equipment, are not as optimal for fiberglass tanks.
Height is one of the factors which forces shipping prices to rise. The best way to understand
this is "It’s easer to take up the entire road then lift a bridge".
With the recent change in the trucking industry some logistic companies and 3PL’s have tried
to enter this side of the industry with little or no experience. This causes shipping issues down
the road. Where the logistic company may be able to secure pricing in the budget stage of you
project, they have a hard time securing trucks during the shipping stage of the project. This
issue comes from the lack of knowledge in this area of specialized freight. Sometimes waiting till
the last day to tell you they don’t have a truck. This is where J.E.L. Agency, LLC comes in. Our
company has set up an entire division for pressure vessels or light round freight such as silos.
We have put together a team of drivers and equipment that is designed to:
1. Lower loaded height
2. Maximize well space for multiple items
3. Lower overhead expenses with light weight aerodynamic equipment
Thus reducing shipping cost too are customers. We work with drivers who have the special
equipment and training to handle these specialized aspects of the industry. We make sure that
you are getting the proper equipment for the item you are looking to ship. We use our expertise
in this field to maximize the equipment used for your load, therefore eliminating later issues
with the hauling or loading of the freight. Let’s face it. Accidents happen but errors are
preventable. It’s in your best interest to make sure that who you’re getting your price from is
not just looking to get your business, with a cheap price and not backing it up with a truck.
You want some who is looking to get you business by moving your freight with knowledge
and experience. So if you are in the industry of manufacturing pressure vessels or round freight
such as silos, give us a call.
